We left Madison and started making our way to the Badlands in South Dakota. We knew it was too long of a drive for one day, so we decided to stop and camp for a night at Palisades State Park in South Dakota. It was a small (but beautiful!) park and we loved our short time there. Plus, it was our first night tent camping and although I was a bit worried about how it would go, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. In fact, in many ways, it is easier than camping with our pop up. It confirmed to us that we made the right decision to leave our camper in Michigan (we decided it wasn’t worth bringing since it slows us down so much, keeps us away from pretty overlooks, and makes us lose about 4 miles to the gallon).
It was a great night and made us even more excited to get to the Badlands!
